Contract Outline
To construct and prototype a new class of ships specifically designed to lead fighter squadrons to thier objectives. Must have the ability to be deployed from carriers with ease and accomidate pod pilot technologies as the sole means of control. Due to small size of the craft its expected that several modules will be already built into the craft and are not subject for replacement with bulkier and more inefficent systems. These ships will be smaller than frigates thus shall be dubbed corvettes appropaitly for thier realative size. Piloting such ships will not be easy as it requires a mind of a fighter pilot to fully handle properly.
Customers Gallente Amarr Minmatar and Caldari are all expected to receive their products, there have been no requests from other factions, in most likely cases the corvette closest in technology will be issued instead.
Shipyard Updated 12/31/08
NFX-30x - Gallente Corvette Delphi Prototype
NFX-31x - Amarr ??? - Under Construction (currently drawing) NFX-32x - Caldari Loctus - Prototype simultations running (solid design messing around with swappables)
NFX-33x - Minmatar Freyja - Engineering Issues preventing prototype production (design isnt meeting visionary demands)
/roleplay off Well Kicking off the new year with a new series of ships corvettes, feed back most welcomed and needed to help shape these ships up before I start working a final product picture for all of them.
Enjoy .

Sherrif Jones NFX 34x - CONCORD 'Colt' Corvette will be added to the assembly line after I get the other corvettes built. Would also probably mean I need to build a CONCORD carrier to deploy corvettes.

Templars where crusade era folk temple knights.
Teplar leaders where called grand masters of the templar order
Legionairs where what 1000 years before? well before the term knight was ever coined.
Roman/Greek Army names are more fitting for gallente names.
Delphi is norse and I should probably move the name elsewhere more appropaite like the minmatar corvette... my bad it is greek town related to an oracle related to apollo.

But Generally speaking, corvettes are bigger than frigates. They're kinda of like a sub-cruiser class, designed primarily for role-specific duties. Seek and destroy, etc...
But we already have ships like that. They're called Drakes
"A corvette is a small, maneuverable, lightly armed warship, originally smaller than a frigate and larger than a coastal patrol craft." -Wikipedia
There where several more subfrigate classes but seriously corvette stuck out alot becuase its not the first time Ive seen it applied as larger fighter craft, or a subfrigate class of ship in sci fi game. Homeworld is probably the most popular of these. Also corvette sounds so much better than a scooner, sloops, cutter or clipper.
But all thoughout time most corvette named ships have been smaller than frigates.

Keep up the amazing work!
I have yet to meet a modeler capable of modeling my ships sadly, Ive seen attempts and none ever finished or gave up becuase they couldnt capture the same feel of the original artwork. I myself have very little experince with 3d modeling programs and I can barely manage a caldari look-a-like ship in these programs.

Any suggestions though I havent heard any this time around I usually get complaints about the styling of ships and more commonly naming conventions?
Caldari Loctus is kicking my rear end as far angles go the dragonfly is all stealthbombering which is highly uncaldari imo, but since corvettes are more akin to fighters than the larger ships they have to accompany each other on style. Overall shape is there gotta figure out weapon placement and angels now.

Originally by: Vall Kor I would love a fast attack ship to be put in game. These launched from a carrier for hit and run ops would be very, very fun. AFs and interceptors almost have this down (minus the coolness of carrier launches), but need a lot more handling and fire power.
The corvette idea would rock. But this would be a hard ship to balance, speed would be their defense (I assume), but if the speed is too high, they'd be very hard to track even in an frig, but if it was too slow it would get popped by a rookie ship.
I was hoping CCP would put in a 'Dogfight' attack option for drones so when you lock a primary target deploying drones or/and fighters and you tell your drones to 'dogfight' that ship it will go after its drones first, I would also suggest halving the prices of fighters if this option is made available.
Corvettes by themselves are very fragile and weakened firepower similar to a tech 2 rookie ship. With a full compliment of fighters the fighters give the corvette bonuses based on thier mission role (this allows for future fighter additons such as carrier deployable intercepts and bombers) to enhance the corvette to the point is near the likeness of the fighters they lead, the bonuses it gives back can easily rival the carrier's own bonus when they are assisgned as last time I checked fighters lose carrier bonuses once assigned.
Any light to heavy escort ship should be able to threaten the corvette. If the corvette is to hard to take out you may want to kill a few fighters assigned to it first to degrade the synergy bonuses its getting. I expect most escort duty ships to have little issue dealing with corvettes in larger formations but on a one on one basis most ships are screwed if caught middle of nowhere and the corvette pilot decided to use a precious midslot and very little fitting for a scrammer doing this for the corvette may prevent him from fitting anything else including enginnerring modules to keep the scrammer going and with 0 cargobay cap injectors are out of the question.

Added another picture to the collection today from the Hospitaller's first test flight.
The launch, testing of basic equipment, and recovery went smooth for the Hospitaller. Testing courtesy of the Amarr Navy 3rd Fleet carrier Essence of Faith and her battlegroup. The battlegroup admiral was pleased with the results of the flight and has a team of engineers to gut the hospitaller of standard equipment and to begin installed Amarr Navy Engineered equipment instead as per agreement of the contract specifics.
They will install weapons, coms, telemetry computers, targeting computers and everything the amarr navy damands out of thier ships.
The hospitaller will go though several more test flights before I get benchmarking results back to impliment into them BPO mastercopy.
/roleplay off
Basically the forecast of me making a "features and idea" Post (dont worry should only be 5 posts long this time) suggesting the addition of corvetees is very likely now.
Currently nobody is complaining about the design specturm of the amarr corvette so its design is finalized. The gallente will get a beef up before getting its final picture out due to some complaints of it acutally looking caldari?
Please if any ship here doenst feel like its part of eve or thier race speak up. I dont know if my sense of any of eve's races is on the spot or not so pilots like yourself will be most helpful in providing thier feel and view on how ships should look.
Most of these ships are more inspired by the fighters than any other ship in eve so be mindful of that for this series. |

We received the latest schematics of your new Amarr Corvette. Everything seems to be in order, but our mandate from the Empire states a rather firm clause on the naming policy. Hospitaller, as it is known now, violates a rather discreet section of the mandate.
We request that you change the "Hospitaller" into "Epiphany" before releasing the blueprints to the construction team.
Also the "Sanctum" has been approved.

Dear QA,
We hope not to mean any offense. All names selected by NFX is for the sole purpose of record keeping and project references as they are being worked on instead of using obscure numbers and letterings that our simpler workers we hire cannot remember very well.
All names as always per contract details in section III point out that all final names are to be selected and urged to be picked by the Customer and that NFX yards to be notified of the final name so that all master engineering documents can be tagged for future quicker refrences should there be a major malfucntion in the blue print system or for future projects.
The Hospitaller names was taken from SOE records given to the shipyards for designing thier explorer ships. The records depict an holy order of knights who where all part of a hospital and later sired as Hospitallers to serve along side the Templars in thier struggles. We thought it was fitting to repeat history and have the name serve along side mordern Templars once again as these two ships will be closely fighting along side and relying on each other.
Remember all nicknames are not at fault of the shipyards and cannot be held responsible including the design as the customer had plenty of time to reconsider the deisgn before finalizing and installing thier own specific technologies.
We apologize for not letting the liberty of name selection to be known earlier in the contract and hope we can come to an agreement and continue to share business in the future.

I do use eve files, but only for WIP, chibbera been nice enough for having me host my pictures there in the past but I think Im over stuffing my personal folder atm and its in dire need clearing out to help out the server as eve-files isnt as free as we want it to be where as deviant art I never have to worry about paying at all.
Its alot better than most people selection of photobucket which 9/10 times I find that the images the people are trying are deleted.
Current Progress of my work so far
Currently almost done designing the minmatar Freya and she'll be being peiced together in the docks tonight.
CONCORD engineers just finished giving us the basic breifing of what they want in thier corvette sized ship basically it would mostly be a SWAT insertion vessel for smaller strike groups where frigates would be overly to big for a similar role.

Currently shipyard workers are taking up most of my funds, they are very loyal, well paid and taken care for. Why the entire test flight crews are fully deep space suited at all times during test flights. A privilage rare to most crews of ships all across New Eden who only have the temporary 4-8hr emergency space jumpers if they are lucky.
Good life assurance polocies also reduces corporate sabatoge by one of my own workers.
The construction of the bare bone hulls holds very few consturction secrets. Of course having all the primary systems installed by customer's own engineers help reduce thier's and our costs protects thier secrets.
Protecting secretes is oddly still a nessecity in this know well known line of work. I still have rival Shipwright companies that build custom ships from the smallest Xevan's Emporium to the largest and most well known Asgeir Ascension Technologies, who has received many contracts across the galaxy and its hard not to turn a corner in New Eden and not see one of his beautful crafts flying about.
Though my yards has yet to receive any offical contracting from any major employer for wide spread duplication and production. Many of the navies I cater to are willing to purchase the test hulls to try out intended mission roles to see if thier navies could benifit from it. Many are still being tested and being engineered with the navies they've been sold to. Though thier development takes alot of time our yards get good feedback to improve customer's demands between test hull builds. This takes alot of time to have them develop on thier end but they save alot money by not having to go though red tape required for each test build they have to do themselves where as they can just spend most of that money on the systems instead of the hull.
/roleplay off
Well Concord Patroller is fully designed and all I need to do is sketch it on the screen, the minmatar one Ill have to build it as I go on the screen so its going to take alot longer than the amarr or gallente one did (they bascially are unchanged from paper to screen.)
As for playing any brave new modelers I got very little isk to spare as IM trying to complete a ship collection so I can study the various ships and design styles and no I don't peferre the hassel of logging onto the test server.

Originally by: CaptainSeafort Well that is certainly a tasty idea - and if you gave it the facility to control 5 fighters regardless of the players skills, it would facilitate CCPs objective of making the carrier a gangship rather than a solo pwnmobile that it started with its maximum controllable fighters at any one time. Even if it had nothing to do with fighters in the end, a hyper-agile minifrigate would be pretty cool in itself.
It can control 5 fighter drones regardless of skill once its been assigned to them. The effect of the bonuses it get is dependent on the pilot own skills and number of fighters. Closer to lvl 5 Corvette the pilots train the more powerful than the fighters they lead become. Maxed out pilot would outperform a fighter and his fighters will hurt alot more. Without fighters its just another prefitted frigate.
On a side note the minmatar one is finally done. |

Ill peice her together once I slim her down to concords standards and work on it this weekend but with an aparment move may not be entirely possible to get it done.
Also the gallente design MAY get tweaked.
Caldari version was well received, its final design been approved for testing.
Minmatar has like no comments or feedback though o-O
Meanwhile any suggestions on what ship class I should construct next? Ill take any sensible ideas. If I get no suggestions Ill have a revisit to my inventory and redo the Tier 2 Planetary seige Dreadnaughts 'Juggernaughts' and try a new art style then. =============

IMO These two simply look like someones grabbed the original fighters, chopped here, glued there and achieved a model that looks different but not really individual enough.
The amarr and gallente ones are good as they still look gallente/amarr, however also have a look of their own (as most ships in EVE do) and so are distinct from their fighter counterparts.
That said, its a good effort and those drawings do look awesome
Edit: On second thought the minmatar one looks quite distinct form its fighter counterpart, however the ****pit doesnt seem "minmatar" enough imo. But others may think its perfect so its a matter of opinion really..
Caldari Style is one of my harder ones to pull off due to the fact that im running out of reasonable shapes and configurations to use, and of course minmatar which at alot of times can look caldari itself. Unfourtunatly the only other fighter design I had for the caldari looks striking similar to the 'atmo' caldari fighter thats probably going to be an offical ccp design so in essence I didnt want to step on that foot at all.
As for the Minmatar Im like the new republic style, as one of the concept artist said its verys much inspired by sharks.
yeah the 'bridge' irked me for a whole month one what to do with it, thought about doing a flat faced one but it quickly lost its fighter appeal. |
